Epigenesis is a love letter to Quake and Unreal Tournament’s Bombing Run. It is a mix of the games that we at DS3P miss from the time when we grew up, and we want to give that same experience but with a modern twist to today’s gamers. No matter if you are one of the old Quake players who miss the twitchy shooter, or if you think you know the meaning of the word “hectic”, Epigenesis has something for you.

These gladiators survived in the midst of the jungles on the inland of old Asia. The only way to survive the deadly animals and hostile weather was to live in symbiosis with the massive trees and vines. Inspired by the bamboo of the jungle, they utilize a cast system where only true power is valued. Obsessed by strength and power, the only way to reach a higher cast in their society is to defeat someone of higher social status.

A mix between desert and deep sea environments, the Omani have lived in the middle of the north-east African continent for thousands of years. They first lived on the ocean floor, but after the water resided they had to create mech-like shells for them to survive in the arid heat of the desert. Sea shells, roots and sand are characteristic for the Omani, as well as their belief that society should be governed by a sovereignty chosen by the people.

Think of the DNA as the hardware of the body, holding all the information that is needed to create all the parts of your body. The DNA keeps track on all of the information, like a giant hard drive with an enormous amount of information. To read the DNA, the body needs a software that decides which parts and how much of it gets read. Epigenetics is the study of this software that exists in every living being, the software that controls the DNA.

One part of the software that controls the DNA is called Methylation. There are several methylation sites along the DNA which work as roadblocks when the DNA is about to get read. These roadblocks need to be turned off in order for that specific part of the DNA to be transcribed.

A roadblock can be turned off by things that happen outside of the body. For instance, harsh storms could start the transcription of certain parts of the DNA that then affect the traits of that person.

In Epigenesis, players demethylate plants by shooting them with a highly concentraded ray of light. This will start a new trait in the plant that will help the players to win the ball game. Players will be able to methylate the opponents plants which will deactivate their plants abilities.
